Publishing in Nature Portfolio journals

Monday, 04.04. 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Publishing your work in an influential journal begins with good research, but there is much more to it. This talk will demystify the editorial process at Nature-family journals, including Nature and Nature research titles, as well as open access journals such as Nature Communications and the nature portfolio Communications journals. What takes a paper from new submission to an accepted article? We will discuss what editors look for in potential papers and how best to communicate your work to the editor, the reviewers, and ultimately the readers to ensure your key points easily get across. We will walk through all stages of the editorial and peer review process, from how editors select referees, to how decisions are made from a set of reports. You will also learn the keys to a convincing cover and response letter and putting together a successful appeal.

Dr Teresa Ortner is a Senior Editor at Communications Chemistry, an open access nature research journal publishing high-quality research, reviews and commentary in all areas of the chemical sciences.
